What is on your music playlist right now? This is an interesting one. I’ve been throwing it back to Matchbox Twenty. I keep coming back to this playlist. I have a lot of different Matchbox songs and different artists on it as well. The name …
Where do you go when you need solitude?
When I was in high school, the teen angst was real. I had a thinking spot. Actually, Mary and I had a thinking spot. A solitude spot. This was the place we would go when we needed space. This was where we went when we wanted to just sit and not have to think about anything. We got our Big Gulps and our Bazooka bubble gum and headed out on 1804 to the dam. We would pull in at the chapel and just sit. We brought our cassette player with our mix tapes so we could play our music and think. Sometimes we would see how many pieces of Bazooka we could fit in our mouths. We did crap like that. We went there a lot. I went there a lot by myself too.
Every once in a while…I do it now too. I think the last time was about a month ago. I pulled in there on my way home. It’s convenient because I live on 1804 now and my thinking spot is close to my house. When I stopped the last time, I pulled into the parking area, turned off the car, rolled down my window and just listened. I let my thoughts just go. I took deep breaths and contemplated things.
Every once in a while that solitude is needed.
What is your favorite part about yourself? Today’s prompt. It’s easy to think something of my appearance, but I feel like there is so much more than appearance. I have been thinking about this a lot today, as I received the prompt this morning, but …
The prompt: Write about what makes you feel strong. I could easily say strength training. Strength training does make me feel strong. But there is more to it. In lifting, you are in competition with yourself. The mental toughness has to be built. You have …
What is your favorite quote and why?
That is a writing prompt from the WordPress Bloganuary prompt. It is today’s prompt, January 22, 2022. I just found out about the bloganuary thing yesterday. A little late to the party, but hey, I’m here now.
I thought, why not? I have not been writing as much as usual and thought this would be a good way to get back into it.
So, what is my favorite quote? It’s so interesting this is today’s prompt because I have really been into Henry Ford quotes.
I just finished up and became certified in a Health Coach Mindset Course. It was one of the best courses I have ever taken. It really opened my eyes up to how important mindset is in every single day life, not just sometimes life.
Henry Ford was an American industrialist who revolutionized factory production with his assembly-line methods. I did some quick research and it sounds like he was also kind of a dick.
But, I’m here for the quotes. His quotes very much promote a growth mindset. What is a growth mindset? Growth mindset if all about your beliefs. Belief that you can achieve something. Belief that you can learn new things. Believe that you can change.
These quotes speak right to that. In fact, I just used this one today for a podcast I recorded that will be released in a few weeks.
“Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice.”
Putting in the work and the effort to learn. That is what I see in this quote. I love it because it shows a person that in order to accomplish something, they must put in the work, they must learn the thing, and then they reap the benefit of it.
I just love that. Nobody is doing the work for them. Nobody is coming to save them. They are taking action and figuring out how to succeed and believing they can.
I talk health and fitness all the time, but this can also spill over into your every day life. The paths definitely cross. It’s not just health or fitness. It’s not just life. Everything is connected and everything intersects.
Keep learning new things. Keep challenging yourself. Keep going.
