Numbers

Numbers

Why do numbers affect us so much? Specifically, the number on the scale. A little comparison. The scale weight usually pisses us off. The calories burned during a workout on the treadmill, usually make us happy. Both numbers don’t reflect the truth. I mean look

Seriously, Just Eat Right Already!

Seriously, Just Eat Right Already!

What does eating right even mean? You hear it all the time. If I could just eat right then I would lose weight. Or, wow, if so and so would eat right they would feel so much better. But seriously, how many of you eat

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks – GUARANTEED

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks – GUARANTEED

Guaranteed 10 pound weight loss in 2 weeks-

Can anyone really guarantee results? Is that even possible? I see it all the time. All over the internet. All over gyms and in print ads. Back up a second. What kind of results could be guaranteed? Certainly not, “Lose 10 pounds and 10 inches in six weeks” kind of results, right? You can’t put a number on that. I mean, seriously, trainers and coaches are not with a client 24/7. We cannot control what that person is eating, or anything else about their activities. What if they are stressed to the max and don’t sleep at night? What if they eat processed crap food every.single.day.? News Flash: a trainer or coach can only control a person when that person is with the trainer or coach during their training session. Don’t expect to get amazing results unless you are taking control of every aspect of your life. Then and only then should you, or could you, expect to get amazing results.

I get a little annoyed when I see places guaranteeing the kind of results I just spoke of above. But the thing is, people get suckered into it. They want it now. They want instant gratification. They truly think they will achieve those kinds of results in six weeks. I call bullshit. People need to realize there are no quick fixes or magic pills, yet they still fall for it every day. It can take years for people to get results. You cannot get sustainable results in that short period. It takes time. It takes patience. It takes consistency. One just needs to do the work. Plain and simple. Consistency is the secret sauce, the magic pill, and the quick fix. I say it ALL THE TIME.

Don’t believe the hype. You are smarter than that. Find someone who can help you get on track and stay on track. Don’t expect to see results right away. However, like I said, if you are consistent with all aspects of your life, including nutrition and stress management, you will see results after about 30 days. Keep in mind everyone is different. You might start seeing results in about two weeks. Your friend might not see results until week 5. That’s okay. Just keep in mind you won’t look like a fitness model. Buuuuuut, you are doing what you need to do to see results.

Take the time to do your homework. Does something sound too good to be true? Unfortunately then, it probably is.

Don’t worry about everyone else. Do you! Put your head down, show up, do the work and then I guarantee you will start to see results.

My House Is For Sale

My House Is For Sale

Well, not MY house, but the house I lived in as a little kid. 409 North Euclid. The busiest street in Pierre. The main drag. The cool place to be. The simple life of being a kid. I learned so much during that time.

There Is No Wagon

I have to admit that I have tried so many different ways of eating. I wanted the quick fix. I wanted to feel fabulous in 10 days, or 30 days or however many days. I wanted to just make that fucking change to start

Last Update for WTF Hormones.

Last Update for WTF Hormones.

This is the last update in my series of updates on my adventures with hormones. I am happy to say that the menopause symptoms are still staying away. It is weird that even though I had a uterine ablation, I can still feel things. What I mean by that is I can tell when I ovulate and when things are kind of PMS-y. Over Christmas I ended up with some low back pain, which to me felt like PMS stuff going on. Well, turns out I actually had a period. That has not happened but one other time since the surgery. I do know that the doc could not get the whole uterus taken care of during the ablation so it was possible that I might have a period once in a while.

Overall, I am happy with the progress I have made in this little experiment called body awareness, nutrition, workouts and basically a science experiment on myself. There are still some things I want to fine tune, but that is for another blog…

WTF Hormones? UPDATE

WTF Hormones? UPDATE

Sorry, I’m a few weeks late in writing this update. I am happy to report that I have no menopause symptoms! How crazy is that? Hot flashes are completely gone and so are all the other symptoms I had. It seems crazy that it can

UNDER THE INFLUENCE

UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Are you familiar with the phrase, “The soundtrack of my life?” It is so strange, but I bet I have heard it at least ten times this week. Not even kidding. Not even one little bit. I started a blog post early this week, and

HORMONE UPDATE

HORMONE UPDATE

I will be starting week 5 of my hormone journey. In four weeks I lost 5 pounds and have started to feel less tired, less bitchy and overall pretty great. If you remember from my last post I am eating foods that are anti-estrogenic, along with certain supplements that can help to balance the hormones. So, for a repeat, lots of leafy greens, berries, grapefruit, some rice and sweet potatoes and a lot of lean proteins. Also avocado and nuts and seeds. Supplementing with Vitamin C, Vitamin D and fish oil (when I remember to take it). I also hit the probiotics once in a while, but need to get more consistent with those.

I did pretty well with diet this last month. I have noticed that coffee and wine intensifies hot flashes. Well, I’m not giving up coffee. I will give up wine for a while and see how that affects the hot flashes. Sleep is getting so much better. I have been meditating before bed and that seems to really help relax me, which in turn induces the sleep. I have been dreaming a lot, so that tells me I am getting some good deep sleep.

Regarding workouts, I have intensified them. I can tell a difference. I still feel strong and do not feel that I am overtraining or losing strength, so will keep up with those.

The next month I plan to tighten up on the eating more, continue the workouts and continue to keep getting quality sleep.
